The story of Kaamps goes back to the time when farmer Herbert's parents took over the Kaamps farm in the small village of Deurningen (Overijssel) from an uncle and aunt. At the time (1920), this Aunt Meike was a maid for the Kamphuis brothers (Kaamps). Two brothers had passed away, and only Hendrik Kamphuis (71 years old) remained on the farm with maid Meike (31 years old). One day, Meike came home after a chat with neighbor farmer Deterd and told Hendrik that she had just been proposed to.
Hendrik was startled and said: 'But then you can marry me too!' And so they decided to get married!
In 1963, Herbert's mother, Bertha, inherited the farm. The farm has therefore existed for generations, but was originally a mixed farm with cows, pigs, and chickens. In 1985, the dairy farm was expanded to include a cheese factory, and the Kaamps estate was also established.
The beautiful Kaamps Estate has now dedicated itself to keeping cows and producing high-quality milk. Together with their employees, the Nijland family (father, mother, two sons, and daughter) is ready day and night to care for the livestock, work the land, and produce dairy products and our cheese specialties.
Landgoed Kaamps places great value on sustainability and is proud that this is implemented on the estate in various ways. For instance, harvesting clover for food is beneficial for the environment, as it reduces the need for artificial fertilizers on the land. Additionally, Landgoed Kaamps provides blue services. This involves making the land available to be flooded during heavy rainfall with the aim of preserving (landscape) elements.
